Can I bring my newborn baby to the lake?

I have a 3 week old baby girl, she's been out in the world already since she was born. She's healthy and fine. She's already had 3 doctors appointments. I want to bring her to my cousins birthday party to a lake. She will be in one of those mosquito net baskets. You know its kinda like a carseat with a mosquito net for babies. But my mother is to worried and she said we should not go. What should I do is it ok to bring her?
